Atchafalaya Farms
Atchafalaya is a Native American word meaning “Long River.” Today the Atchafalaya Basin stretches nearly 150 miles and is the largest river in the country! It’s diverse, full of life, and as wild as it gets. Though the soil is very fertile and drought conditions can be non-existent at times, the swamps and surrounding lands in Louisiana can take just as much as they give. Maybe that’s what makes such a healthy ecosystem… the constant giving and taking, an evenly balanced scale. So, we set out on a mission to grow hemp in these lands. And while we do intend on taking what nature can give us, our give will be natural tools to help our bodies and minds. Our ancestors settled this land because of this diversity and abundance of natural resources that allowed them to thrive. They worked hand in hand with the environment, and Cajun Healers or “Traiteurs” used natural remedies to help people with various ailments. While we do not claim to be Traiteurs by any stretch, we do use utilize some of nature’s best gifts to help people. Our Goal is to provide relief and restoration to families so they can stay outside longer, get more enjoyment from the outdoors or an active lifestyle, and get well-deserved rest, then turn around and do it all over again the next day. Nature, although beautiful, can also be harsh and rough on the body, so give your body something derived from nature to help you get through nature.
